Wingstop Explores Sale of UK Operations Following Milton Keynes Opening
Wingstop, the popular American chicken wing chain, has announced that it is exploring the sale of its UK operations.
This news comes just weeks after the company opened a new store in Milton Keynes, part of its ongoing expansion in the UK market.
Despite its recent growth in the UK, Wingstop has begun discussions about selling its British operations. The company is reportedly considering various strategic options and has enlisted the services of Piper Sandler, an investment bank, to handle the potential sale.
Wingstop first entered the UK market in 2018 and has since opened 36 locations across the country, with plans to reach a total of 100 restaurants by 2027. The brand’s ambitious expansion efforts have been aimed at tapping into the growing demand for its unique offerings, including classic wings, boneless wings, and tenders with a wide range of sauces.
Tom Grogan, director of Lemon Pepper Holdings, which oversees Wingstop’s UK operations, stated that the company's focus remains on delivering exceptional service and maintaining its strong position in the market. "The business is performing exceptionally well, and we are committed to delivering a superior customer experience,"
While Wingstop has enjoyed success in the UK, the company is now evaluating its future in the market. The possible sale of its UK business comes as part of a broader assessment of the brand’s strategic priorities and potential opportunities for growth.
The decision to explore a sale may also be influenced by the challenging economic climate and competitive landscape in the UK foodservice industry. Rising costs and changing consumer preferences have prompted many businesses to reassess their operations and consider new approaches.
Wingstop is conveniently located next to Pret in the new food section at Midsummer Place.
