Venue Cranfield Achieves Silver ECOsmart Award for Sustainability Excellence

Venue Cranfield, part of Cranfield University, has earned Silver ECOsmart certification from Greengage | B Corp™ for its outstanding sustainability initiatives. This prestigious award acknowledges the venue’s commitment to environmental responsibility across several key areas.

Among the initiatives recognised were:

• Energy and Water Conservation: The venue is transitioning to LED lighting, operates a solar farm, and has completed an energy audit leading to significant reductions in energy use.
• Waste Management and Recycling: Venue Cranfield has eliminated plastic water bottles, replaced single-use plastic toiletries, and donates excess equipment to good causes. The site composts garden waste and recycles 100% of paper, card, glass, and plastic waste.
• Sustainable Food and Beverage Management: Plant-based options feature prominently across menus, and local and organic suppliers are prioritised. The venue is dedicated to working with suppliers who value animal welfare, sustainability, and a low carbon footprint.
• Corporate and Social Responsibility: Venue Cranfield supports the university’s ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 accreditations, is actively involved in wildlife conservation, and has committed to the Net Zero Carbon by 2030 Pledge.
