Tributes continue to pour in for Robin Bradburn, who passed away at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference on Saturday.
Robin, who was the leader of the Liberal Democrats on Milton Keynes Council, died unexpectedly while attending the party conference in Brighton over the weekend.
Tributes have continued to flood in today, as friends and colleagues remember Councillor Bradburn.
Nick Mann, Chair of MKBLP and the MKBAA awards, posted: "It was with great sadness that yesterday I learnt of the passing of Councillor Robin Bradburn. In the years that I knew him, Robin proved himself to be a staunch supporter of our business community and, by extension, MKBLP, MKBAA, and me personally. When I think of him, I think of kindness and humanity; a man for whom nothing was ever too much trouble for him to help you. I will miss him greatly. You have been in my thoughts since I found out Robin, as have Marie and your family. May you rest in peace."
Dr Julie Miles OBE said '' It was with great shock and sadness that I learned of the sudden passing of Cllr Robin Bradburn. Robin's unwavering commitment to fairness and equality was truly inspiring, and his presence was always cherished at events like the Women Leaders Annual Awards gala and of course, MK Innovates, where he demonstrated such passion in championing STEM careers for all. Thank you, Robin, for your endless support and dedication. The entire community of Milton Keynes will deeply miss your enthusiasm, dedication and compassionate spirit. My thoughts are with Marie and the family during this difficult time.
Emily Darlington, MP for Milton Keynes Central, said: "I was shocked to hear of Robin Bradburn's untimely passing this weekend. He and I have worked together for many years and I want to thank him for his hard work and dedication to the city and aims of Milton Keynes. My condolences to his wife Marie, daughter Kerrie and his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed."
Michael Bracey, Chief Executive of Milton Keynes City Council, said: "We are all so sad to hear that Cllr Robin Bradburn has passed away. He has served the council in a number of roles, including as Deputy Leader, and his work with officers of the council was always exemplary."
Cllr Jane Carr, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, said: "Robin was an amazing man, and we are all so shocked and hurt by his sudden loss. He was a good friend, colleague, and councillor, but above all, he was a devoted husband to Marie, dad to Alan and Kerrie, and a loving granddad. He will be deeply missed by us all."
Cllr Peter Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes City Council, said: "Councillor Robin Bradburn was a role model of public service. Robin served the residents of the city because he believed that we could make a difference to the lives of the people we represent. I’m deeply upset by the news, having lost a colleague and friend.”
Cllr Shazna Muzammil, on behalf of the Conservative Group, said: "The Conservative Group are sad to hear about Councillor Robin Bradburn passing away. On behalf of my group, I would like to express my condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues at this very difficult time. Personally, I share a profound sense of loss; Robin was known for his kindness and generosity, and he will be missed by us all."
