Thames Valley Police Seize Multiple Vehicles in Delivery Driver Crackdown

TVP DELIVERYThames Valley Police have been conducting vehicle checks across the region, targeting drivers delivering paid-for goods, including food.

The operation, which took place at numerous locations, revealed that a significant percentage of delivery drivers were operating without the correct hire and reward insurance.

Without this specialised insurance, delivering goods invalidates a driver’s standard policy, resulting in several vehicles being seized. Each driver found in breach of this requirement has been reported for the offence, highlighting the serious legal consequences of driving without adequate cover.

Thames Valley Police have issued a clear warning to delivery drivers: it is mandatory to have hire and reward insurance if you are transporting goods as part of your employment. Failing to do so could lead to not only the impounding of your vehicle but also up to six points on your driving licence.

A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said, “Don’t take the risk. The costs of having your vehicle released, coupled with potential legal penalties, far outweigh the expense of obtaining the correct insurance.”
