Tattenhoe Residents Rally Against Proposed ‘Super Site’ Waste Recycling Centre
Residents of Tattenhoe are voicing strong opposition to a proposed waste recycling "super site" in their community, with a petition gaining traction to stop the development.
The petition, titled "Say NO to Super Site Waste Recycling Centre in Tattenhoe", has been launched to challenge Milton Keynes City Council’s plans to build a new recycling facility at Snelshall on Anderson Gate, between Steinbeck Crescent and Snelshall Street. If approved, the site will replace existing centres in New Bradwell, Newport Pagnell, and Bleak Hall.
However, many local residents are concerned that the move will bring increased traffic congestion, unpleasant odours, excessive noise, and potential environmental damage to the area.
Lack of Consultation Concerns
One of the main frustrations voiced by the community is the lack of proper consultation, particularly with new residents in Tattenhoe Park, who may not have been fully informed about the council’s plans when moving to the area.
Local councillors Shazna Muzammil and Manish Verma have stepped in to support the residents, calling for a thorough review of the proposal and urging the council to reconsider the location. They argue that the proposed site is too close to residential areas, which could lead to long-term negative impacts on quality of life.
Residents Encouraged to Take Action
In response to the growing concern, a public council meeting is scheduled for 5th March at 6 pm at the Civic Offices, where residents will have the opportunity to voice their objections directly to decision-makers.
Community members are also being encouraged to sign the petition, which has already garnered significant support.
