Road and Bus Travel Disruptions in Milton Keynes for Reggae Land this weekend

Milton Keynes will host the highly anticipated Reggae Land 2024 festival at The Bowl, promising a vibrant celebration of music in the CIty.

As a result, there will be significant road closures and bus service alterations across the city.

Here's what you need to know to navigate the area and plan your travel accordingly.
Road Closures.

Milton Keynes City Council has announced multiple road closures to ensure public safety and smooth operation during the event. The following roads will be affected:

Saturday, 3rd August to Sunday, 4th August 2024 (9:00 am to 3:00 am):

Watling Street (V4): Closed between Elfield Park Roundabout and Knowlhill Roundabout.
Chaffron Way (H7): Closed between Leadenhall Roundabout and Furzton Roundabout.
Grafton Street (V6): Closed between Leadenhall Roundabout and Bleak Hall Roundabout.

Saturday, 3rd August to Sunday, 4th August 2024 (10:00 am to 3:00 am):

Davy Avenue, Knowlhill: Closed from its junction with Harrison Close to its junction with Chaffron Way.
Favell Drive, Elfield Park: Closed from its junction with Barleycroft to its junction with Watling Street.
Saturday, 3rd August to Monday, 5th August 2024 (3:00 am):
Bridleway 32, Loughton: Closed from its junction with Chaffron Way to its junction with Spring Rose Way.

Speed Restrictions:

 A speed limit of 30 mph will be enforced on:

Watling Street (V4): Between Enfield Park Roundabout and Knowlhill Roundabout.

Chaffron Way (H7): Between Leadenhall Roundabout and Furzton Roundabout.

Parking Restrictions:

Temporary parking restrictions will be in place on the following roads between 00:01 am on 3rd August and 3:00 am on 5th August 2024:

V4 Watling Street: From its junction with H6 Childs Way at Knowlhill Roundabout to its junction with H8 Standing Way at Elfield Park Roundabout.
H7 Chaffron Way: From its junction with V3 Fulmer Street to its junction with V6 Grafton Street.
V6 Grafton Street: From its junction with H6 Childs Way [Leadenhall Roundabout] to its junction with H7 Chaffron Way [South Grafton Roundabout].

Bus Service Changes

To accommodate these road closures, several bus routes will experience changes. Passengers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys:

Service 8/8A: During the closure, the service will operate along Grafton Street as normal but will then loop back up to Childs Way and continue as far as Shenley Lodge, then proceed as usual to Westcroft District Centre.

The following roads will be closed for the entire duration of the event:

•    Chesney Wold: Entire length
•    Summerston Road: Entire length
•    Davy Avenue: Entire length
•    Roebuck Way: Entire length
•    Kelvin Drive: Entire length
•    Harrison Close: Entire length
•    Shirwell Crescent: Entire length
•    Seebeck Place: Entire length
•    Phoenix Drive: From its junction with V6 Grafton Street to its junction with Marine Court
•    Chapter: From its junction with Grafton Street to its junction with Rochfords
•    Parkside: From its junction with H8 Standing Way to Favell Drive

Public Safety and Compliance

The Milton Keynes City Council emphasizes that these temporary closures are necessary for public safety during the Reggae Land 2024 festival. The Order will be in effect from 00:01 am on 3rd August 2024, and it will last up to 18 months or until the event is completed.

There will be no exemptions except for emergency service vehicles and those associated with event operations. Any breach of this order could result in prosecution under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
