Thames Valley Police Reassure Milton Keynes Residents Amidst National Disorder Rumours

TVP MKIn recent days, rumours have been circulating on social media that there could be unrest in Milton Keynes related to the ongoing national disorder.

Milton Keynes Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Emma Baillie, has reassured residents that these claims are unfounded.

"Please be assured that there is no accuracy in any of those I am aware of, and we are very proud of how our communities are pulling together as we normally do," she stated.

Milton Keynes remains a safe and peaceful city, with the police force committed to maintaining public safety and combating misinformation.''

Across the UK, misinformation has been spreading rapidly in light of the national disorder. In many instances, these rumours have caused unnecessary panic and confusion. The rise of social media as a primary source of information has only exacerbated this issue. False reports can be easily amplified, creating a distorted perception of reality.

As reported in the national press, including sources such as Sky News, many alleged incidents of violence and unrest have proven to be false upon investigation. Chief Superintendent Baillie emphasised the importance of verifying information before sharing it: "Combatting misinformation is vital, so please think and fact-check before reposting anything."

Despite the national unrest, Milton Keynes has remained largely untouched by the disorder affecting other parts of the country. The police are actively monitoring the situation, prepared to respond swiftly if necessary.

Residents are encouraged to continue their daily business and family activities as usual. However, should anyone become a witness to or victim of any crime, they are urged to contact the authorities immediately by calling 999 for emergencies or 101 for non-urgent matters.

"We are ready to act if/when required and are carrying on day-to-day policing in our city and surrounding areas," stated Chief Superintendent Baillie.

Milton Keynes Police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disorder or hate crime. They are determined to maintain peace and order, taking robust action against any disruptions.

The police are also appealing to the community to help prevent disorder by reporting any suspicious activity or information. "By working together and flagging intelligence up to us, we can prevent it from happening at all," Baillie assured.

To further ensure the safety of Milton Keynes, police have increased patrols around potentially vulnerable locations. This proactive approach aims to deter any potential threats and reassure residents of their safety.

Chief Superintendent Baillie also highlighted the importance of local engagement: "Local engagement will continue, and we have enhanced our patrols around potentially vulnerable locations." By maintaining a visible presence and fostering strong community ties, the police aim to prevent any incidents before they occur.

The national context cannot be ignored, as the country has seen a significant increase in far-right protests and public disorder. Police forces across the UK have been bracing for potential unrest, with around 30 more far-right protests anticipated in the coming weeks. This comes as courts aim to conclude the convictions of many involved in recent riots.

Despite the national challenges, Milton Keynes has remained a beacon of calm. The city's diverse and united community continues to work together to maintain peace and safety.

The police are committed to ensuring that Milton Keynes remains a safe place for all its residents, with plans in place to manage any identified risks. "Milton Keynes has been very peaceful, but we are not complacent and have plans in place to manage those risks that are identified," said Baillie.

Chief Superintendent Baillie’s message to the community is clear: remain vigilant, verify information before sharing, and continue to support one another. By working together, Milton Keynes can continue to be a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
