Get on Your Bike for Bike Week 2025!

Liberal Democrat Councillor Marie Bradburn is calling on all Milton Keynes residents to celebrate Bike Week 2025 by hopping on their bicycles. This annual event, organized by Cycling UK, champions cycling as a fantastic way to improve your health, protect the environment, and enhance city life.

Councillor Bradburn, who represents Bradwell ward, emphasizes the multifaceted benefits of cycling: “Cycling isn’t just a way of getting around; it helps us build a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. Getting active and spending time in nature boosts our health and wellbeing, all whilst shaping a more sustainable future for the city by reducing carbon emissions and improving the air we breathe.”

This push for more pedal power comes at a crucial time for Milton Keynes. Data from the MK Community Foundation reveals that 37% of the city's greenhouse gas emissions originate from transport, a figure higher than England's national average of 31%. Embracing cycling can play a significant role in reducing this impact.

To mark Bike Week 2025, residents are invited to join a family bike ride this Saturday, June 14th, organized by Woughton Community Council. The ride kicks off at 11 AM from the school car park near Grove Surgery in Netherfield.

Councillor Bradburn encourages everyone to participate, regardless of age or ability: “Everyone is welcome, no matter your age or ability, so please join us if you’d like. Small changes can lead to big improvements for us and for our city.”
