Frosts Garden Centre near Milton Keynes Sold After 78 Years of Family Ownership

The Frost family announced that the business has been acquired by British Garden Centres, marking the end of an era for the family-run garden centre that has been a staple in the community for nearly eight decades.

The decision to sell comes as the fourth generation of the Frost family looks to step back from the day-to-day operations of the business. Founded in 1946 by Ted and Mary Frost, Frosts Garden Centre has grown from a small nursery into a beloved destination for gardening enthusiasts and families alike.

James Frost, a member of the third generation of the family, expressed his gratitude to the community and staff for their support over the years. “It has been a privilege to serve our customers and be a part of their lives,” he said. “We are confident that British Garden Centres will continue to uphold the values and standards that have been central to our business for so long.”

British Garden Centres, one of the UK’s largest garden centre chains, plans to retain the Frosts brand name and integrate the centre into its portfolio of over 60 locations nationwide. The acquisition includes Frosts Garden Centre's four sites: Woburn Sands, Brampton, Millets Farm, and Willington.

In a statement, British Garden Centres' director Boyd Douglas-Davies said, “We are thrilled to welcome Frosts Garden Centre into our family. We recognise the significant legacy and reputation the Frost family has built and intend to maintain the high standards and community spirit that customers have come to expect.”

The sale marks a significant moment for the Frost family, who have been instrumental in the development of the garden centre industry in the UK. As they pass the torch to British Garden Centres, they do so with the assurance that the legacy they have built will continue to thrive under new ownership.
